Zeer tevreden sinds 2004!
‘In 2004 ontmoetten we Sahabuddin voor het eerst, toen hij ons gidste bij een privé Tanah Toraja tour. Sindsdien heeft hij vele reizen voor ons georganiseerd naar bekende (Java, Bali, Lombok) en minder bekende delen van Indonesië.
Samen met hem zagen we de zwarte orchidee diep in het regenwoud van Kalimantan bloeien, reisden we trans-Sulawesi en wandelden we tussen de varanen op Komodo en Rinca.
De grootste charme van het reizen met een locale reisorganisatie is dat je met de lokale bevolking in contact komt op een manier die onvergetelijk is.
Na 2004 hebben we zeker 10 reizen met Matahari gemaakt en voor 2016 staat er weer een reis in de steigers.
Een betere aanbeveling lijkt me niet denkbaar!

Goed verzorgd & goed gepland
Mijn naam is Jasper Broers en ik ben 27jaar en woon in Drachten, Nederland.
Vanaf kind ben ik al verliefd op het land waar mijn opa is geboren, toen ik klein was sprak ik al over vele reizen die ik naar Indonesië zou gaan maken.
In 2007 heb ik mijn eerste reis gemaakt naar Indonesië, samen met mijn opa, oma en moeder. We zijn dat eerste jaar op Java, Bali en Sulawesi geweest en hadden die 3 weken Sahabuddin Nur(Roepnaam: Budin) als gids bij ons. Een ontzettend enthousiaste man die heel veel kon vertellen over het land, de cultuur, de mensen, het eten en nog veel meer. Wij zijn die dagen bij hem thuis geweest en hebben zijn familie ontmoet en hebben daar de mooiste dagen van onze vakantie gehad.
Ik zat die tijd al een paar keer te denken om in het buitenland stage te lopen. De
mogelijkheid was er op mijn opleiding die tijd. Op een ochtend in die vakantie op het strand van Bira(Zuid-Sulawesi) sprak ik met Budin en gaf Budin aan dat dit ook mogelijk was in Indonesië. Ik heb die kans met beide handen gegrepen en ben een jaar later voor ruim 7 maanden naar Makassar(Zuid- Sulawesi) vertrokken. Hier heb ik kunnen wonen in het huis van Budin en de familie. Ik heb in die tijd ontzettend veel geleerd van de cultuur. Veel liefde gekregen van de hele familie en heb veel mee gekregen van het vakantiereisbureau van inmiddels voor mij Oom Budin : Mataharitravels.
Na mijn stage periode ben ik tot heden nog 6 keer naar Indonesie geweest en heb ik al mijn reizen laten verzorgen door Oom Budin zijn vakantiereisbureau : Mataharitravels. Alle reizen die ik heb gedaan zijn ontzettend goed verzorgd, goed gepland en wordt er door Budin rekening gehouden met je persoonlijke wensen. De Sulawesi tour die ik samen met mijn partner heb gedaan in 2016 was geweldig. Een reis met veel variatie, veel contact met de locals en van zuid naar noord zoveel verschil in cultuur, gewoontes, landschappen en mensen. Senang sekalih (ontzettend genieten). We kunnen niet wachten om onze volgende reis door Mataharitravels te laten verzorgen en zijn alweer aan het kijken wanneer we weer die kant op kunnen.
Ik zal dan ook iedereen aanraden om je reis te laten verzorgen door Mataharitravels en als je een goede ervaren betrouwbare liefdevolle gids wil zal ik zeker vragen of Budin met je mee kan reizen. Geloof mij, je zal er geen spijt van krijgen.

A magical holiday
In 2016 I travelled to Indonesia for the first time. I had my trip arranged by Matahari travels because I heared a lot of positive stories about the travel agency and the friendly owner. Through e-mail I told the agency what I wanted to do during my travels; relaxing on a bounty island, trekking in the jungle, seeing culte, coming close to the Indonesian people, visiting markets and snorkelling in between the coral. I told what my (limited) budget was and let the owner, Budin, decide everything else.
Very soon my boyfriend and I received a couple of options to choose from. The trans Sulawesi tour catched my eye immediately. Sulawesi is an enormous island where tourism is still a small business. The island is very all-round so all my wishes could be fulfilled on Sulawesi.
The island has plenty of white beaches and is surrounded by coral. The Togean islands in the middle/north of Sulawesi were perfect for relaxing. Beautiful white beaches, palm trees, huts on the beach, surrouned by coral and beautiful nature. Exactly like the most beautiful pictures on the Internet. My wish to travel to a bounty island was fulfilled; I found a lot of peace here.
My wish to do a trekking through the jungle got fulfilled in the north of Sulawesi. In Tangkoko national park we stood in the middle of a group of 150 apes, we saw a gigantic toucan, a jungle owl, crazy insects, the smallest kind of ape in the world and the most beautiful nature. The trekking through the jungle was even more special than I imagined it to be.
The thing that impressed me the most was the culture and the people from Sulawesi. Because the island is so big there is a lot of variation in culture. We started in the south where most people are Muslim. The people want to do anything for you, you can visit peoples houses and there is always food for you. Their hospitality is very special to experience. In Makassar we went to the house of Budin. We met his very warm family and the most delicious food from Indonesia. After Makassar we travelled more to the north where the Toraja people live. This was my favourite part of the trip. The culture of the Toraja people is unique in the world and gets called the death culture. Everything in their live is about death and the death people. Crazy graves and ceremonies are part of that. Everything is open to see and experience. It is really worth a visit. In the north of Sulawesi most people are Christian. The people in the north are very free and love to play volleyball or soccer with you. Because we had a private driver we were in touch with the locals during all of our trip. The driver knew people everywhere, invited us to his house and told us about the habits in Indonesia. A very beautiful experience to be in between the locals.
Visiting markets is no problem on Sulawesi. From the fishmarkets in Makassar to the crazy everything eating people markets in Monado (dogs, snakes, rats, pigs, etc.) and the beautiful colourful vegetable and fruit markets all over the island. Besides the fact that the markets are a nice experience (so much to see) it is the place for the locals to do groceries for their food. Indonesian people eat all day and it is truly delicious. I never ate so good as in Indonesia and that for a very low price.
Last but not least I really wanted to snorkel in between the coral. That wish came true on the Togean islands and in Bunaken. Bunaken is known as one of the best diving spots
from Asia, but is very good for snorkelling as well. The underwater world is really magical. We saw a lot of coral, gigantic seastars, big groups of tuna, the most bright coloured fish and even some sea turtles! All of this just in front of our hotel.
I can conclude that sir Budin listened very well to my wishes and made my trip to Indonesia unforgettable. By travelling with a private driver we saved a lot of time. Because Sulawesi is so big you need to have a lot of time for travelling by public transport. Besides that, the driver knows all the good restaurants on the way, all the nice waterfalls and beautiful sightseeing points. He was also very friendly, caring and nice to have around. I never expected that we could have such a beautiful trip with our budget and I don’t think that there is an other travel agency that is so extremely friendly, caring, personal and helping to find the trip that suits you as Matahari travels. I would recommend this travel agency to everyone. Just get in touch with Budin, tell him what your wishes are and experience the travel of a lifetime.
My next trip with Matahari travels for the summer of 2017 to Bali is already booked. I can’t wait!!
