Baliem Valley Festival

Baliem valley festival is the biggest tribes meeting along all the tribes that occupy central mountain area of Indonesian side of Papua island. Normally from August 10 till August 16 every year, all tiribes will travel to Wamena, the biggest town in central mountain. Some of the tribes will walk as far as seven days away from Wamena.

Tribes will come in groups of hundreds men, women and children. They are all dress up traditionally and pround to show their distinctive culture. During this one one week event, they will do many cultural attractions such as: Mock battle, competition on shooting the arrows and many other activities.

This event is open for public, and you could come and join them if you wish to. You just need to contact us in advance, so we can make sure the date of the events, make hotel reservation on your behalf and many other necessities.
